Engage in some form of worship daily. If you keep making excuses like not having time, being busy with work, or not finding leisure, your progress will remain stagnant. To cleanse past impressions, at least twelve years of worship are necessary. People often do not maintain proper conduct while worshipping, doing it hastily, which does not generate the required energy. Both effort and time are wasted. Just as a song creates the right vibrations only when sung in its designated tune and pitch, otherwise it sounds harsh to the ears, worship should be done with the feeling of being a servant of the servant. This attitude benefits the worshipper. When the mind reaches a state of formlessness, one can guide others in the form of the divine. After reaching a state of nothingness, one can become 'saguna' (with form). A seed sprouts only when sown in the soil, not just by being placed on the surface.
Worship yields excellent results. It eradicates evil thoughts and ignorance. One becomes aware of impending troubles. Some receive this awareness from their Guru, while others get it spontaneously. Spontaneous awareness is a good thing. One should not eat without daily contemplation and meditation. Until pure conduct is consistently maintained, the mind will not experience restlessness.
Do not think about the benefits of worship; the question is not about benefits but about self-improvement. As devotees progress in self-improvement, their development also occurs. Those who practice spirituality show significant evolution. The knowledge they acquire becomes increasingly pure and sacred. Only such individuals experience their own progress.
Every devotee should dedicate their body to worship. This means taking His name with the mouth, listening to His virtues with the ears, seeing His form with the eyes, and asking for His forgiveness by prostrating with the body. When forgiveness is sought, blessings are also received. Obtaining blessings from great individuals is our true duty.
While worshipping, one should consciously try to control the six enemies (lust, anger, greed, attachment, pride, and jealousy). This helps in reducing faults. If there is no improvement in speech, behavior, and conduct despite taking His name, then the worship is wasted.
