'Aham jñānamayo vijñānamayosi'
This is what Bhagavan has said. It means that knowledge and science are two sides of the same coin. Both are forms of the divine. Spirituality is not against science. Whatever scientists conceive and discover is inspired by the divine. Science does not create anything new; it brings to light what already exists. Without the divine, no one can create anything. If science is asked to create the Himalayas, it cannot do so. These are the limitations of science.
Great scientists (who have made many discoveries) acknowledge the existence of the divine. They accept that there is a power in the universe that meticulously runs the cosmos. Scientists tried to discover the fundamental elements, reached the atom, but could not explain what drives the protons and neutrons within the atom. These wise people admit that there are many things they do not understand.
Religion has never opposed science and does not oppose it now. If scientific discoveries make human life comfortable, spirituality does not oppose it. For example, air travel has made journeys comfortable and allows quick travel over long distances. Religion does not oppose such beneficial discoveries. However, many people call themselves rationalists, scientists, and deny the existence of God. They believe that they are the creators and doers of everything. Religion opposes such attitudes. People who believe that there is no religion or God are opposed by religion. Westerners have made many discoveries and scientific progress, but they have not abandoned religion. They regularly attend church.
The behavior of some rationalists and atheists leads to adverse effects on the lives of people in society. Those who are less educated and cannot think deeply lose their faith in God and religion. Such people then cannot trust anything. Any work that needs to be done requires a religious foundation. This makes the work excellent.
