People generally believe that performing rituals and visiting temples is the true essence of religion; this is incorrect. When you offer flowers, apply sandalwood paste, and use perfume during worship, it is to make you feel auspicious and pleasant. This is your personal religion. Showing compassion to living beings, helping others, maintaining a kind attitude, behaving well with everyone, and speaking kindly is true religion. When God bestows grace, He does not look at how many flowers were offered or how much sandalwood paste was applied. Instead, He looks at how much compassion the devotee showed and how much help they provided to others. This is how God measures.
Religion should not be understood as merely upholding eternal values. Whatever work or job you do, if you remember God and work with concentration while serving people, that too is religion. If a neighbor is in trouble, rushing to help them is the duty of a neighbor.
People are advised to practice religion according to their respective roles. In the field of education, if a student asks a question, it is the teacher's duty to provide an appropriate and satisfactory answer. Similarly, in the medical field, if someone is in pain or suffering from a disease, it is the doctor's duty to provide proper guidance and improve their health. People in each role should perform their duties with dedication. While doing this, rushing to help others and showing compassion is an opportunity for everyone to serve God.
Just as in spirituality, some saints achieve a high state through their practices, similarly, in other fields, people who serve others and reach a high state are also considered saints. Mahatma Gandhi, Rajendra Prasad, Vinoba Bhave, and others were such Sadhu purusha. The daily worship and rituals performed by Satpurusha have a noble and pure intention behind them. The purpose of worshiping God is to gain strength to help people in times of difficulty or crisis. This is their religion.
