Since human birth itself arises from impurities, the mind tends to gravitate towards them. The inclination of the mind towards spiritual growth is relatively less. We are often unaware that the primary duty or purpose of human birth is to gradually move towards liberation. Initially, the common person believes that human birth is meant to enjoy the pleasures and happiness of worldly life. It is only when crises and worries arise from these pleasures that a person begins to contemplate the true purpose of their birth. In this quest for understanding, the longing to meet a true Guru intensifies. When this longing transforms into deep emotions, one meets the Guru, and the true meaning of human life is found.
After becoming a devotee, one begins to understand the qualities of the Guru. With their grace and our efforts, we realize that the qualities of the Guru are indeed the qualities of God. By staying in the company of a true Guru and practicing devotion, a person gains the strength to make the right decisions at the right time. A capable person does not get carried away by happiness nor does he get disheartened by sorrow. He experiences that happiness and sorrow are two sides of the same coin. The blessings of the Guru help the mind become doubt-free and fearless. Their blessings are based on extremely pure and righteous conduct. Along with blessings, they also give us strength, which always motivates us to engage in constructive work and prevents us from going down the wrong path.
Those who are uplifted realize that the Guru is indeed God. As the feeling of seeing the Guru as equal to Shiva grows, one gradually begins the journey towards liberation. This strong belief deeply ingrains in the mind that one's welfare will be achieved through this. From this, the understanding that devotion, love, service, and Guru's work are the true objectives of life takes root in the mind. Without the touch of the Guru, knowledge is not attained. Therefore, while receiving the Guru's touch, one should have a pure mind, a clean heart, purity, and good thoughts; only then is the Guru's grace possible. When they wish, with a glance of grace, they uplift the devotees in an instant. With the Guru's grace, one can lead a pure life and progress on the path to liberation.
